About

A Michigan State alumni in design and retail merchandising, I launched my career within the high end NYC retail industry.
Buying within the prestigious contemporary dress markets for Lord & Taylor, positions of general manager of merchandising of Houston's Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Fifth Avenues hallmarked NYC flagship, and Bloomingdale’s highest dollar per square foot performing location, Chestnut Hill in Boston...all were key steps that submerged me within the top design talent in the country. Experiences in both apparel and home fashions industries solidified a 25+ year career in the field. I pursued the possibilities of connecting textiles, style, line and form to create a vision of my own. Learning to harness the knowledge from the best, dig into the details of product and the complexity and of its construction.

Landing in Asheville in August of 2007 looking for greater creative independence, KWL Design & Décor was launched. We set out for the first Home Show in the Fall of 2008 and have never looked back.
The design studio is inclusive of design workrooms, all situated in the historic Kenilworth Inn. Creative construction of drapery, window coverings, decorative pillows, bedding, and light upholstery are all tabled. As a credible resource for our clients, we have a strong understanding for the technical needs of each job site and deliver the highest level of hand trimmed work. Boasting an extensive library of textiles, wallcoverings and trims, options are both wide ranged as well as matched to the needs of the site.

The business has developed over the twelve years into three distinct categories, private residential, commercial/ retirement communities, and restaurants/ brews. Each niche has enjoyed repetitive design history. Work sites have sent us to NC, SC, and GA locations.

Established our first cover and feature article with Carolina Home + Garden in the Spring Issue of 2010. Eight more Features have followed with support from both The Laurel of Asheville and Carolina Home + Garden.
